GameInvest, a Portuguese videogame development studio with international staff and clients, is looking for a 2D touch-up artist to join the art team.
Job Summary:
As a touch-up artist you will be responsible for retouching and correcting digitally painted scenes that come from different sources and need to be incorporated in our games in a coherent manner.
Skills/Qualifications:
– Advanced knowledge of Photoshop
– Dynamic and proactive personality
– Strong artistic and graphic problem solving abilities
– Attentive to detail and very organized
– Keen eye for coloring
– Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting
– Ability to multi-task
– Ability to meet deadlines
– Quick and versatile
– Good command of the English language (oral and written)
– Loves games, specially graphic adventures.
Ideal skills:
– Conceptual artist
– Pixel artist
– Web page cutting skills
– Experience in videogames would be ideal but not mandatory

Summary:
GameInvest, a Portuguese videogame developer, seeks an Art Director for its studio in Lisbon, Portugal, to manage its art team in the development of high quality artwork for videogames.
The Art Director reports to the Production Manager and will work very closely with the Design Lead to drive the art team to follow the designers’ creative vision and with the Technical Lead to assure the artwork meets all technical requirements.
Description:
• Collaborates with the management team in the creation of high-quality videogames.
• Leads the art team in the creation of consistent, high-quality artwork, such as characters, environments, visual effects and user interfaces.
• Drives the art team to meet project deadlines and milestones under budget.
• Creates with management project schedules and resource planning.
• Identifies and/or selects quality development partnerships (art outsourcers).
• Regularly reviews, provides feedback and approves all art content.
• Facilitates and manages all art team communication, both internal and external.
• Identifies and anticipates artistic problems and communicates solutions to the appropriate project managers.
• Identifies and solves visual problems within the games.
• Conducts critiques with clear and consistent direction to the art team.
• Ensures adequate pre-production and testing of new concepts/techniques is complete prior to production of title.
• Researches and analyzes competitive products and makes recommendations to the management team.
• Demonstrates a high level of creativity and originality in treatments of licensed IP and licensor style guides without violating license issues or create style guides if none exist.
• Is responsible for mentoring, training, career direction and performance evaluations for the art team.
• Oversees creation of marketing material for effective marketing, PR and promotion, often with little notice.
Requirements:
• Professional experience with art team leading or art direction.
• Must demonstrate an ability to manage teams effectively, providing inspirational leadership and mentoring to artists at all levels.
• Capable of identifying and recommending needs for art-specific tools to enhance or control visual aspects of game.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Portuguese and English); must be able to communicate difficult and creative concepts in a clear and concise manner; capable of creating documentation that defines needs.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Strong understanding of how the art pipeline works, both technically and managerially, and how to create/modify and monitor it.
• Advanced understanding of several 2D and 3D software packages.
• Follow the vision and provide clear direction for artists while maintaining a h igh level of quality and consistency.
• Contribute innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of game art and production.
• Set an example for all team members by regularly demonstrating strong work ethics, quality of work, teamwork, motivation and solid leadership.
• Must have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• A solid understanding of the various technical disciplines that go into game art including: concept design, graphic design, animation, environment modeling, character modeling, texturing, lighting and rigging.
• Experience in motion graphic and cinematic development a plus.
• Must be passionate for computer and videogames!!!
